Plea for SMC to approve life-extending prostate cancer drug

Prostate Cancer UK is calling on the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) to approve the life-prolonging and life-enhancing drug, abiraterone, for use on NHS Scotland prior to chemotherapy when it announces its decision a week from today (9 Feb).

NICE draft decision on Enzalutamide an ‘blatant u-turn’ say Prostate Cancer UK

Enzalutamide, a new life extending prostate cancer drug, may be made available on the NHS. This is according to a draft decision by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). The decision, which will now enter consultation, will restrict the use of the drug to those men with advanced cancer who have not already had the drug abiraterone.
